Newton,an affluent city 5-9 miles West of Boston between Brookline & I-95/128, is known for large homes of diverse architecture near village centers, huge trees, elegant shops & restaurants. Boston is 10 - 20 minutes away via the Mass. Pike (I-90) or Green Line-C & -D.


NEWTON (Center)
ALDERWOOD--The cheerful solar gourmet kitchen and deck attract guests for breakfast and conversation with their gracious hosts. This tasteful 1930 Colonial is graced by the Host's original paintings and artifacts collected during their world travels. Two 2nd floor guest rooms, spacious Queen and smaller Twin room. Both booked if related parties. A resident cat. Quiet location one block to BC Newton campus (free shuttle bus to main campus) and 1 mile to Chestnut Hill campus. Quick drive to airport, 8 min. drive to Boston and Cambridge. One mile to I-90, village and Green Line-D station Newton Centre. (NS, PB, TV, a/c, Pk) $120/one room, $173-$187/both rooms
From Logan Airport: The Ted Williams tunnel, an extension of the Mass. Turnpike (Rte I-90) which runs through Newton, is now open. This cuts the driving time from Newton to Logan Airport considerably; i.e., from Alderwood B&B to Logan can take just 12 minutes door-to-door. Also, this will improve driving time to Brookline, Cambridge and points west.

NEWTON (Highlands)
ROCKLEDGE--Stately Victorian (1882) in prime location where guests return again and again. Cordial hosts offer bright, spacious rooms, antiques, gardens. Authentic restoration has been maintained, except for the huge, comfy modern kitchen. A large front porch is furnished with white wicker. Three 2nd floor guest rooms, parlor with TV. Queen & Twin rooms share hall bath. Another Queen room has a shower bath en suite. Only 2 rooms are booked at same time. Ceiling fans. 2 blocks to Crystal lake, the village restaurants, shops & Green Line-D station Newton Highlands. 2 miles to Boston College campus. 20 min. ride to Back Bay, Copley Square, Wellesley College. Up a short flight to Suite- 2 bedrooms (Queen & Double) with shower bath. A large guest room up another half flight has Double bed and private hall bath. Spacious, airy living room and garden terrace off the gourmet kitchen are open to guests. Walk or jog along Charles River. 8 min. walk to village & subway Green Line-D station Waban (25 min ride to Back Bay). Boston 10 min. by car. Convenient to Rtes. I-90 & I-95. EXMOOR HOUSE--Retired hosts at this well-kept Colonial in a pleasant neighborhood near Boston College offer accommodations for a single guest. The 2nd floor small guest room has one Twin-size bed, small frig, microwave and private hall bath (tub & shower). It overlooks the back garden. 20 min. walk to Village, subway Green Line-D station Newton Centre and Green Line-B station at Boston College and restaurants. Possible off-street parking. NEWTON (Highlands)
SINGING GARDEN--Featured on Newton house and garden tours, your hosts' 1933 cape with architect-redesigned interior is filled with light, imaginative touches and a feeling of serenity. For those who love being close to nature, the guest room has four glass doors opening to a private garden deck replete with a "singing" waterfall and goldfish pond. Custom-made shoji-style sliding doors with their warm translucency offer more privacy. It has a Queen bed, ceiling fan, cherry floor with in-floor heating and connecting bath with skylight, tub & shower. Guests are welcome to relax in the living room. This is a peaceful location across from Cold Spring Park, half mile to the Highlands village and Green Line-D subway station. Nearby are a variety of restaurants from 4 Star French cuisine to pizza parlors. Your hosts are hikers, bikers, tai chi teacher/artist and computer specialist.
